The Whoniverse is intended to be (or at least become) the ultimate guide to the universe of Doctor Who - the world's longest running Science Fiction TV series. Doctor Who originally ran from 1963 to 1989, with a one-off TV Movie in 1996, and a whole new TV series which started on the 26th of March 2005. In the interim, Doctor Who has been kept alive by several ranges of books and audios, which are considered part of the Doctor Who Universe by a large portion of fandom. If you want to know precisely which parts of the extended Doctor Who mythos we cover on the site, then The Whoniverse Guide to Canon will tell you all you want to know. The site contains the following projects to inform you about the worlds of Doctor Who A History of the Whoniverse covers every historical event referenced in Doctor Who from before the creation of the universe to after its final end. The Doctor's Biography is, as you might have guessed, a biography of the Doctor - the star of the show. There is a complete biography and a simpler list of stories with notes. The Discontinuity Guide is a tongue-in-cheek look at the continuity established in individual stories, and currently covers the new series, the novels, and the short story collections. It follows more-or-less the same format as a book called The Discontinuity Guide, which covered the original TV series, and a site called The DiscContinuity Guide, which does the same with the audio adventures. The original Discontinuity Guide has recently been republished. The UNIT Files is an investigation into the secretive world of the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce, an organisation in the Whoniverse which deals with alien invasions. It is written from the point of view of a sceptic who has collected information about its activities. The Character Lists are lists of the cast from the Doctor Who novels - along with brief notes on who each character is. Cast lists for the TV series and audios can easily be found elsewhere, so there's not much point in me putting them here. This section includes a search function, so you can find characters by name. However, I've not been working on it recently, as it's going to be replaced with the Doctor Who Database Project. The Whoniverse Forum is a place to discuss any and all aspects of Doctor Who. It's also an excellent place to give me feedback about any aspect of the site. There's also a general discussion area where you can discuss (almost) anything and everything. Coming Soon...There are lots of things I have planned for the future of the site, but there are three projects in particular that are worth mentioning here. The Doctor Who Database is intended to become an online searchable database of everything and anything within the Doctor Who universe. It's still in the very early stages, but for a peek at the sort of thing it's going to be, have a look at the companions page. The Monsters pages. Somebody on the site's forum mentioned that they'd like to see a guide to the monsters of Doctor Who. I've got as far with this as writing up a page on the Daleks and the Cybermen complete with pictures. Hopefully there'll be more to follow. The TARDIS Technical Index. Will Swift, author of the famous Rassilon, Omega, and that Other Guy site - which is the ultimate guide to all things Gallifreyan - has asked if we could host a TARDIS Technical Index he's been working on recently, as he wants it hosted somewhere that "looks more polished and professional" than his own site. If you would like to contribute to any of the projects on the site, or have a similar project of your own that you would like us to host (for free), then we would love to have your contributions. Just e-mail the webmaster, and he'll get back to you as soon as he can. CopyrightDoctor Who is both copyrighted and trademarked by the BBC.
